By Public Transportation

There is a frequent public bus service from Heraklion-airport to the center of town. Ticket vending machines are located next to most main bus stops. You can also buy tickets from most kiosks around the city. We advise you to buy your ticket prior to getting onto a public bus. The current price of the bus ticket from the airport to the centre of town is 1.20 Euro (one way) or 2.00 Euro if purchased on the bus.

If you are located in other cities in Crete you can use the KTEL service to come to Heraklio.

 By taxi

The use of a taxi is a convenient and relatively inexpensive mean of transportation in Heraklion. There are taxi stands at several locations in Heraklion like the airport, the port, Platia Eleftherias, Platia Kornarou and Liontaria (Lion's Square).

From the Airport to the center of town, the cost of a taxi is approximately 10 to 15 Euro.

Weather conditions in September and October

The weather in Crete is characterized by mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.

The weather in September: Sunny, slightly windy, with a minimum temperature of 20 C and a high of 27 C. The monthly average is about 24 C and the sea temperature is about 23 C. There is a slight possibility of some rainfall but they usually do not last long.

The weather in October: Mostly sunny, slightly windy, with a minimum temperature of 16 C and a high of 24 C. The monthly average is about 20 C and the sea temperature is about 23 C. There is some rainfall, sometimes heavy.
